<title>Charles Wolf [11/10/1915 - 02/12/2012] </title>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://dayfuneralhome.info/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/43_115083.jpg" alt="Charles Wolf" />   Charles Everette Wolf, of Ada, Oklahoma, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the Ardmore Veterans Center in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the age of 96.
   Charles was born the son of William H. and Olga H. (Welsch) Wolf on Wednesday, November 10, 1915 in Portland, Kansas. He grew up on a farm 1 ½ miles North of Portland, KS. Charles attended grade school in Portland, high school in South Haven, Kansas and 1 year of college on a track scholarship at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma where he broke the interscholastic 1 mile record.
   He was a decorated member of the US Army during WWII. Charles served in Patton’s 3rd Army and was behind enemy lines several times as part of a Special Forces team. He spent 277 days in combat and was wounded three times. Following the war, Charles began farming the 160 acres of family land, he purchased an additional 160 acres and leased another 320 to help support his family. Charles made sure his family was never in need and was always available to friends and neighbors in need. Later, he worked with a geologist friend to begin mineral leasing. In the 1950’s, Charles and his brother, William, traveled to North Dakota to buy oil and gas minerals. In 1953, he made a trip to Victorio Peak in New Mexico in search of a lost gold mine. Charles loved adventures such as this.
   On May 11, 1941, Charles and Clara Nadine Brownlee were united in marriage in Arkansas City, Kansas. On their 50th Anniversary, they traveled to France and visited places he fought during the war. 
   Charles was a Deacon of the Christian Churches in South Haven, Kansas and Grove, Oklahoma. He served on the Board of Education for South Haven. Charles was an American Legion District Commander in Grove, Oklahoma and served on the Grove Veterans Funeral Detail for several years. Other memberships include: VFW, 40 &amp; 8, Disabled American Veterans and lifetime member of 5th Division. Charles spent time fishing, gardening, bird hunting, oil and gas prospecting and searching for lost gold mines. He was a retired farmer and CEO of Wolf Oil Company. His family will remember him as a loving, dedicated husband and father who worked extremely hard to provide what was needed.
   Survivors include his son, Charles Dennis Wolf of Sheridan, Wyoming; daughter, Vicki Janis Talbott of Ada, Oklahoma, sisters: Betty Bates of Wellington, Kansas, Nadine Rinehart of Caldwell, Kansas and Earlene Strickland of South Haven, Kansas; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife on September 14, 2003; brothers, Herman and William Wolf and sisters, Ottis King and Lorraine Taylor.
   The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2012. 
   Funeral services for Charles will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 16, 2012 in the chapel of Day Funeral Home, 1030 Mission Road, Wellington, Kansas.
   Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery near Ashton, Kansas.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://dayfuneralhome.info/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/43_114678.jpg" alt="Willis Lowe" />   Willis Lowe, of Wellington, Kansas, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at his residence at the age of 73.
   Willis was born the son of Joel and Lucille (Edwards) Lowe on Tuesday, June 28, 1938 in Akins, Oklahoma.
   On June 7, 1957, Willis and Betty Harmon were united in marriage in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage.
   Willis loved his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events. He was happy working outdoors and always had a big garden. Willis enjoyed visiting with his coffee buddies.
   For several years, Willis worked security at the Blue Grass Festival in Winfield, Kansas. He volunteered for the Sumner County Sheriff Reserves and retired from the Sumner County Road and Bridge Department after several years of working for Johnson Oil Field Service.
   Survivors include his wife, Betty Lowe of Wellington, Kansas; daughter, Taryn Nichols and her husband Mike of Wellington, Kansas; daughter, Lisa Harris and her husband Bill of Linlithgow, Scotland; son, Kevin Lowe and his wife Jayme of Wellington, Kansas; sister, Pat Oberste of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; brother, Larry Lowe of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, grandchildren: Joshua Nichols and his wife Calais, Audra May, Joel Nichols and his wife Rhiannon, Terrence Nichols, Alicia Harris, Shannon Harris, Mark Harris, Mitchell Lowe, Jace Lowe, Abby Lowe, Derrick Lowe, great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Brooklyn, Isbella and Presley Nichols, Braedon Norris, Craig and Jackson May.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marion Lowe and Joel Lowe, Jr. and sisters, Linda Lowe and June Walters.
   Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2012 with family present in the evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
   Funeral services for Willis will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012 at St. John&#039;s Lutheran Church, 1031 Mission Road, Wellington, Kansas.
   Graveside Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2012 at Sallisaw Memorial Cemetery, Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://dayfuneralhome.info/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/43_114679.jpg" alt="Doris Marilyn Palmer" />Doris Marilyn Palmer, 87, died on February 5, 2012, in Bella Vista, AR. She was born on August 1, 1924, to James and Marie Ruzek in Berwyn, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved daughter-in-law, Erin Catherine Palmer. Doris is survived by her beloved family: husband, Edward Hoyt Palmer; son, John James Palmer; daughters, Pamela Joan Renn (Chad) and Patricia Gay Beckett; five cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Benjamin James Renn (Allison), Zachary Palmer Renn, Christina, Rebecca, and Melissa.
Early in life, Doris was a TV and radio news reporter at WLS in Chicago and at CBS. In the 1970s, she worked as an Editorial Assistant in Wheaton, IL, and then held various posts at the American Dental Assoc. in Chicago. She very much loved children, and using her advanced degrees in education, improved the lives of many children with special needs at Univ. of Iowa Hospitals. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, she was a Special Education Teacher in Oklahoma City and Edmond, OK, where she worked miracles with mentally and physically challenged children. 
Doris was a 1946 graduate of Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She received a Masters of Education from Central State Univ. in Oklahoma, and completed post-graduate work at Wheaton College and the Univ. of Iowa. 
Doris was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church, Bella Vista, AR, where she so enjoyed her prayer group. 
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Day Funeral Home, Wellington, KS. 
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, Wellington, KS. Private burial will follow.

   John was born the son of Skip and Brenda (Richardson) Shipley on Sunday, March 23, 1969 in Downey, California.
   On March 11, 1989, John and Melinda Martin were united in marriage in Norwalk, California. Together they celebrated 22 years of marriage.
   Prior to his diagnosis of MS, John was a Journeyman Electrician in the oil industry. In 2005, the family moved from California to a farm southwest of Wellington, Kansas where they have resided since. John was known by many as a man of great faith and encouragement. His favorite scripture was Romans 12:1-2. 
   Survivors include his wife, Melinda Shipley; sons, Daniel Wayne Shipley and Andrew W. Shipley; daughter, Elizabeth M.I. Shipley all of Wellington, Kansas; parents, Skip and Brenda Shipley; brother, Jeff Shipley all of Downey, California; grandmother, Mary Richardson of Wildemar, California; his best friend, Russell Shively of Winfield, Kansas along with several extended family members.
   He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Vern Richardson.
   Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2012.
   Funeral services for John will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2012 in First Freewill Baptist Church, Wellington, Kansas.
   A private interment will be held at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas.

   Robert was born the son of Homer and Gwen (McFarland) Watkins on Sunday, December 14, 1924 in Newton, Kansas.
   On November 19, 1977, Robert and  Lee Swanson were united in marriage in Wichita, Kansas. Together they celebrated nearly 26 years of marriage.
   He retired following a long career with the railroad. Robert also served his country during WWII in the United States Marine Corps.
   Survivors include his son, Dr. Jeff Watkins and his wife Joni of Hearne, Texas; daughter, Teri Will and her husband Dr. Lawrence Will of Wellington, Kansas; son, Roger Swanson and his wife Marilyn of Austin, Texas; son, Dennis Swanson and his wife Norma of Shattuck, Oklahoma, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Barb Hollingshead and her husband Chuck of Newton, Kansas; brother, Mac Watkins and his wife Glenda of Marion, Kansas and sister-in-law, Lorraine Watkins of Newton, Kansas.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://dayfuneralhome.info/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/43_112675.jpg" alt="H. Raymond Allen" />   H. Raymond Allen, of Belle Plaine, KS, passed away, Monday, January 16, 2012 at Derby Health &amp; Rehabilitation in Derby, KS at the age of 81.
   Raymond was born the son of Harry Raymond Allen and Alma Irene Kraft on Thursday, October 23, 1930 in Peck, KS.
   On, November 25, 1959, Raymond and Arleta Rusk were united in marriage in Wellington, KS. Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Raymond was very passionate when it came to mission work. This work allowed Raymond and Arleta to travel from coast to coast and border to border in the United States. He was there in time of need during the natural disasters of Hurricane Katrina and the Greensburg tornado.  Farming was also a committed passion for Raymond,  he enjoyed his time working the land.
   Survivors include; wife, Arleta Allen of  the home; son, Reef Allen and his wife Sherry of Oklahoma City, OK; son, Robert Allen and his wife Janice of Peck, KS; daughter, Celeste  Dinkel and her husband Leon of Hays, KS; daughter, Lisa  Willems and her husband Jim of Farmington, NM; niece, Alicia  Russell of Dallas, TX; great nephew, Steve Russell and his wife April of Lewisville, TX and great-great nephew, Sterling  Russell of Lewisville, TX; grandchildren; Justin, Jacob and Lorne Allen; Kayla and Garet Dinkel; Ashly Allen and Amber Willems.
   He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Irene Brush.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., at the Belle Plaine United Methodist Church, 124 East 10th Avenue, Belle Plaine, KS 67013.

   Sylvia was born the daughter of Elmond and Hilda (Mevnier) Messier on Sunday, August 29, 1943 in Windsor, Vermont.
   On August 26, 2003, Sylvia and Steve Millard Baker were united in marriage in Wellington, Kansas. 
   Survivors include her daughter, Anna Marie Taylor, Alabama; son, Dale L. Baker and his wife Tonia of Wichita, Kansas; son, Raymond Baker and his wife Janice of Wellington, Kansas; daughter, Christina Thomas and her husband Joe of Wellington, Kansas; son, Dwayne Baker of Wellington, Kansas; son, David Baker of Argonia, Kansas; daughter, Carolyn Lee of Udall, Kansas; sisters: Rosemary of Washington and Marie Littlefield and her husband Sam of Connecticut along with numerous grandchildren &amp; great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Steve Baker; daughter, Laura Lee Baker in 1975; son, Jerry Allen Baker; sister, Janet Messier; brother, Ernest Messier and great-granddaughter, Larrissa Foster.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://dayfuneralhome.info/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/43_112343.jpg" alt="Gilbert M. Cottle" />   Gilbert M. Cottle, of Wellington, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita Kansas at the age of 96.
   Gilbert was born the son of William Mervin (aka Merve William or M.W.) and Lottie Pearle (Walcher) Cottle on September 24, 1915 at a farm Northwest of South Haven, Kansas. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Albert Marian Beecher (aka A.M.B) and Lydonia Alice (Wynn) Walcher on the family farm NW of South Haven, Kansas. Gilbert was one of 4 children that included his brothers: Albert William (deceased) and Dick Warring and sister, Nina Pearle (Cottle) DeBuhr (deceased).
   On July 21, 1938, Gilbert and Idotha Juanita Patton were united in marriage at the Methodist Church in South Haven, Kansas. Together they celebrated 72 years of marriage. They had four children; Barbara Pearle (Cottle) Sheldon, John Gilbert Cottle, Joan Idotha (Cottle) Orr and Marsha Faye Cottle. Their family was also blessed to include a foster son, Richard Geier.
   He has been a resident of Wellington since 2009. Prior to his move to Wellington, Mr. Cottle lived on Sunnyside Farm, 1 1/2 miles South and 1 1/2 miles West of South Haven where he and Idotha resided since 1946. Before moving to Sunnyside Farm, they lived for eight years on a farm Northwest of South Haven. As a farmer and cattleman, he enjoyed tilling the earth, planting seed and watching the new crop sprout and grow and then harvesting, custom harvesting, hay baling and feed cutting. Buying and selling cattle was fun for him and he enjoyed raising beef cattle. 
   Mr. Cottle was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Odd Fellows Fellowship both of South Haven, Kansas.
   Survivors his daughter, Barbara Pearle Sheldon and her husband Tom of Great Bend, Kansas; son, John Gilbert Cottle and his wife Janice of Enid, Oklahoma; daughter, Joan Idotha Orr and her husband LeRoy of Sedan, Kansas; foster son, Richard Geier and his wife Donna of Rose Hill, Kansas, 8 grandchildren: Michelle Geier Bollig and her husband Eric of Rose Hill, Kansas, Harold Orr of Houston, Texas, Michael Geier and his wife Kelli of Augusta, Kansas, Charles Orr and his wife Lori of Zebulon, Georgia, Deborah Cottle Suddarth and her husband Trey of Lakeland, Tennessee, Lori Sheldon of Hutchinson, Kansas, Robin Sheldon Reed and her husband Joe of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Michael Cottle and his wife Nichole of Longmont, Colorado, 16 great-grandchildren: Jocelyn Bollig, Jerica Bollig, Jessica Bollig, Jeremiah Bollig, Lauren Orr, Kristin Orr, Taylor Orr, Matthew Schrag, Ethan Reed, Quinn Reed, Zack Cottle, Bryce Cottle, Clareese Suddarth, Douglas Suddarth, Geoffrey Geier, Kathryn Geier; brother, Dick Warring Cottle and brother-in-law, John Patton and his wife LaVonne of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. 
   He was preceded in death by his wife, Idotha, parents; brother, Albert Cottle and his wife Ora; sister Nina DeBuhr and her husband Arlyss; step-mother, Hazel Warring Cottle and infant daughter, Marsha Faye.
   There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
   Memorial services for Gilbert will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the South Haven United Methodist Church, 314 North Main, South Haven, Kansas.
   Interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Northwest of South Haven, Kansas.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://dayfuneralhome.info/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/43_112295.jpg" alt="Mary Carolyn Pritz" />   Mary Pritz, loving mother, grandmother and sister, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at her residence in Wellington, Kansas at the age of 84.
   Mary was born the daughter of Lester P. and Louise L. (Wingett) Snare on Wednesday, December 21, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas.
   On August 25, 1946, Mary and Glen E. Pritz were united in marriage. Together they celebrated 48 years of marriage.
   Among many other things, Mary was a loving stay-at-home mom for her 7 children. She worked outside of the home at their school and as a house keeper for the Retreat House. Mary later retired as the Financial Secretary for the Spiritual Life Center in 1981. 
   Mary found joy in many things. Some of her favorites were puzzles (she put together a 24,000 piece puzzle), working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She was a nature lover and was drawn to birds and deer. Mary always kept bird feeders around and loved the statues of deer in her yard. 
   Survivors include her children, Karl Pritz and his wife Maria of Wellington, Kansas, Frank Pritz and his wife Marjorie of Topeka, Kansas, Maria Holverson and her husband Brad of Wellington, Kansas, Frances Lies and her husband Larry of Wichita, Kansas, Andy Pritz and his wife Irma of Tucson, Arizona, Mike Pritz and his significant other Linda of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Perry Snare of Youngstown, Ohio; sisters, Doris Coghlan of Bonaire, Georgia, Dorothy Bolding of Freeport, Florida, Lesta Ryan of Denton, Texas, Wilma Reinhardt of Denton, Texas and Marjorie Ruth Hinkle of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen Pritz in 1995; son, Tom Pritz and granddaughter, Emily Lies.
   Private family services will be held and followed by an interment at the Resurrection Cemetery, Wichita, Kansas.
   A memorial has been established in her loving memory with Hospice Care of Kansas, 314 North Washington, Kansas. Contributions can be mailed or left at the funeral home.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://dayfuneralhome.info/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/43_111980.jpg" alt="Mary Ellen Secrist" />   Mary Ellen Secrist, loving mother and grandmother, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at her residence in Wellington, Kansas at the age of 85.
   Mary was born the daughter of Aileen (Rush) and Birtlr Pinkston on Sunday, June 6, 1926 in Healey, Kansas.
   On July 9, 1970, Mary and Orville Secrist were united in marriage in Hayward, California. Together they celebrated 35 years of marriage.
   She was a proud member of the VFW and American Legion Auxilliary. Mary retired from Plessey-Midwest after years of quality service.
   Survivors include her 3 sons, Eddie Sisk and his wife Pam of Nevada, Dennis Sisk of Texas, Larry Eady and his wife Kammie of Wellington, Kansas: 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; brother, Keith Pinkston of Andover, Kansas; sister, Dorothy Welch of Wichita, Kansas and sister-in-law, Helen Pinkston of Topeka, Kansas.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Secrist; mother, Aileen Bush; father, Birtlr Pinkston; son, Wayne Sisk; daughter, Joyce Builta, son, Jerry Eady and brother, Walter Pinkston.
   Graveside services for Mary will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas.
   Memorials have been established in her loving memory with the Mary Ellen Secrist Memorial Fund, c/o Day Funeral Home, 1030 Mission Road, Wellington, Kansas 67152. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
